..........and I see there's approxamatley 4 lines that I had to disconnect. One of them is the fuel line, what are the other 3 for? Emissions? Fuel return line? They go into what looks like the upper floor pan of the car.

The three extra lines consisted of one line per side of the tank and then there was one in the middle. I know there's at least one unused line up front that I believe went to the charcoal cannister.

I'm having a sump installed in the tank of the car after it get's it's cleaning. I'm running a carbureator with a mechanical fuel pump.

I do believe I can go ahead and plug all these fittings on the tank right? Or should I keep one open to vent?

*I'm not worried about being original or emissions*

jd,
There is an vapor separator device (emissions control) behind the back seat that the tubes go to. The factory service manual shows it.

BillK,

So that's what that device is. But JD, you need to have at least one line venting someplace.

Make sure those lines are not bent awkwardly when you put them back, after the engine rebuild and high volume fuel pump the rubber hose from the sending unit to the steel line actually kinked after extended crusing (highway).

Two lines (the outer lines) are vent lines, 1 to the fuel pump, 1 is for a return line (have this one closed off on mine) and one to the charcoal canister. I *believe* this is right I replaced the lines a few months ago so I cant remember but im pretty sure there is one on each side and 3 in the middle.

Bill I know what you're talking about as I have my backseat currently out and yes there's a big silver looking cannister that sits there. I was beginning to wonder if that's where all those lines were running to.

Chirp, on mine there's 4 lines that I can see, one is on the sending unit and is for the fuel pump, then there's a middle one and the two outter ones.

Up front I can only find the one that runs the fuel pump (pass side frame) and the other (driver side frame) I believe went to the charcoal cannister.

I'd like to clean up any unnecessarly lines. But I'd also like to keep the tank vented. Perhaps I could cap off the two outter lines and leave the middle one on some sort of filter (to keep crap out of the tank)?
