My son & I are starting to work on a 70 Malibu. There is no engine and the transmission is not installed. The car needs body work in the following areas:
1. Both front fenders replaced
2. Patch the RH inner fender
3. Both rockers replaced
4. Floor pans replaced
5. Trunk pans replaced
6. Both rear quarters replaced
7. Inner wheel housings
8. Lower rear valance
I would like any suggestions that anyone has on what order to do this work. This is our first project and any information is appreciated.
Thanks

I worked from the bottom up. After removing all the glass and the front clip. I did the inner floor pans, one at a time so I didn't have a lot of the floor structure out at the same time. The rockers were done at the same time. Then the trunk and inner fenders patches, then I worked on the rear quarters and the rear window channel. Do not remove the body until you have the structural stuff done or you may twist it. Test fit the front fenders and get the allignment you want. Pull them back off and paint the inner edges, (I painted the entire inside of my fenders) the cowl and cut in the doors. Then reassemble it and paint it. Took me two years.

Thanks for the information, that was what I am looking for. We are thinking that it will take us over three years for the project and probably closer to 5.

Not trying to be crass, but if this is your first project, you might want to get a better car; perferably one that runs and drives. That extent of sheetmetal replacement (all of it practically?!) will do a number on project morale REAL quick- especially with a young person....- just IMHO.

I agree this is an extensive project. My son is 19 and some of his friends are going to help some. Also, we plan to do the car in stages and some work will be sent to body shops to do. I appreciate your response.
