Just saw the Andretti ad in Super Chevy for the Techron Concentrate Plus fuel system cleaner, which says it will help your fuel gauge read correctly by cleaning out all the crud in the tank. Anybody try it to help an erratic fuel gauge? My gauge is a little sketchy at times.
Thanks!

Regular gas needs to have techron added-one bottle during fill-up. I also add marvel mystery oil-6-8 oz. to the gasoline. Excellent for keeping injectors clean on the newer cars.Marvel oil has been used by the Navy for over 100 years. It's the BEST.

Funny you posted this. I dumped a bottle (20 oz) into my "new to me" '93 Lumina 3.4 less than a week ago.
This was the first time I filled the tank, and the gauge never moved off of Empty. Got home, dumped in the Techron stuff that I had already bought--is there more than one kind??? This stuff says on the label "one bottle every 3000 miles", not every tankful.
Within 2 miles, the gauge had jumped past the full mark where you'd expect it to be.
Now, I don't REALLY think the Techron fixed my sending unit. I figure the previous owner didn't have two dimes to rub together, so this was probably the first time the tank had more than a couple of gallons in months. So the float would "probably" have jiggled free even without the Miracle Cure in a Bottle.
But there's no knowing for certain... And, I already have a new fuel filter that'll go on when I use up this tank of gasoline.
Guess, I'll give it a shot if it's not too expensive. When the tank is filled, it shoots up to full, but from there it sometimes decides to come down with the gas or stay stuck halfway. I've been just filling up frequently (premium btw)
Thanks for replies!

Techron is good stuff. It is also included in Chevron gasoline from the pumps. At the dealership i used to work at we included it for the intermittent oil changes.

I think that claim is more directed towards newer cars/trucks. Dodge had a really big problem with that in the early to mid 90's. The fuel sender resistor (which is exposed to the fuel in the tank) would gum up with deposits and quit working. I can certainly see how a compound cleaner that would eat the deposits could in fact fix that condition.

When I worked at the Audi dealer. They also recommended it too. As a matter of fact. That same dealer also sold Porsche too.
On a different subject. Chevron was on a big tangent with the government to get rid of old cars so they could have polution credits. I never used to buy thier products because of that idiotic belief. I have no idea if they are still trying to pull any of that BS.

My brother and his Corvette buddies swear by the stuff. They won't use anything else.
