sounds like he scored. i wish somebody would give me a lemans.....anyway, i've read several articles lately, about guys who are letting other guys restore thier cars, and in exchange, they either get to drive, or race them. i've offered this type of deal to several of my friends, that have cars rotting away in thier yards or storage. these are lesser cars and i don't pretend to be able to restore a hemi car, or an ls6 to concours, but what do you guys think? say you had a hemi car, but not the $ to finish it. would you let it sit and rot, or would you let your buddy finish it, for driving or racing privilages? i personally know, one guy, i'd do this with. in the stories i read, one guy let his brother do it, and in the other, it was a perfect stranger that the guy followed home. it seems to be working for them, and in todays market, it almost sounds like a good idea. think about it, some of you have the $ for the buy, but maybe, not for the finish, and some have the talent, but not the $ (family, bills, kids, business, etc...)for the buy. it's kind of like having a time share, only you could drive the car of your dreams....there has been articles in the paper lately, about groups of women, pitching in on expensive jewerly. they have a calander and they share, say a $10,000.00 necklace for wearing to parties, etc. they say the women could never afford or enjoy a piece like this, on thier own, but works great for the group....

Seems you'd want to have a definitive agreement or it could lead to trouble and major squabbling.

I did extensive work on several of my buddy's cars. A little different than the scenario you are describing but I probably had 300 - 400 hours of personal time into each of 2 cars. Point being I enjoyed doing the work and learned a tremendous amount along the way.
