Probably a stupid question but i'm pretty new at this. So Is there a way i can tell what rear end gears i have in my 70? Vin # or anything like that tell me? thanks

There should be a code (letters and numbers) stamped on the passenger axle tube on the front of the tube. The letters can be decoded to tell you the gear ratio, the numbers are the date, and it will tell if it was a posi or not. Assuming the rear end has the original gears ang carrier.

I had to remove my pasangers side tire to find my code. It was stamped on top of the tube.

well im the 2nd owner and grandma probably never changed anything on it since it was nearly completly stock when i bought it in 91.. i will try to get the #'s of of it tonight and post them.. Thanks for the help
