I like it :D

Ad a bit misleading about "correct 396/325 hp 'EH' code". First the "EH" code is a 396/325 with A.I.R. which this doesn't have and comparing the date stamped on the engine pad (0628 - June 28) shows the engine was dated after the body date of 6D (June 18 - June 24)...plus the ever-popular (but wrong) open element air cleaner which ad states is correct. Originally Marina Blue with white top (F1) and a blue bench seat (723).

At $47,100 and reserve still not met...thoughts?

Too much money unless those questions you raised are cleared up. Really i think it should take a 375 horse convertible to bring that kind of money. Also i assume its a 4 speed?

It is a 4-spd but no way to tell if it's factory since Fremont didn't put codes on the body tag. The bezel looks correct but the boot is wrong and there should be a clock on the floor since it has a bench seat and the gauge options.

But, it's not billed as a 'correct' car, only a nice repainted black convertible. I agree though, for that kind of money...

I like the '67 SS convertibles. I've had a few and would like to find another that hasn't had rust problems. On ebay, most make it into the mid $30,000 range and stall there. Some don't make it past $25,000. Usually the reserve is not met, so they don't sell. I've heard claims of sales off ebay in the $60,000 to $75,000 range, but that must be some fine car.

If this car has all original body panels and floor, is in good condition, has its original engine, and documentation, it might bring 60,000 plus.

But as someone pointed out, the engine and build dates don't work. The 325 hp, bench seat, no console, and drum front brakes (see master cylinder pic) also won't help it along.

Private auctions also make me wonder. They can shill bid them up as much as they want without other bidders knowing. Unless you know if the seller is honest, buyer beware.

the oil cap is on up side down. for that kind of money it should be right.:D Seriously for that kind of money it all should be right, and a fool and his money will soon part.

I just love reading ad copy. Check item #4583919474, a basic red SS hardtop. Listed as some factory options (on a SS now mind you) are:
J52 - Power Assisted Steering (J52 is front disc brakes, power steering is N40)
Z25 - SS hood (d'oh?). SS hood was not a factory option in 1967.
CJ7 - Ralley Sport Wheel Package (?). Ralley wheels were standard with front disc brakes. - Maybe he's thinking Jeep?
PW8 - Red line tires (standard on SS, not a factory option)
N10 - Dual exhaust - This was an option available only on the L30 327/275.
U35 - Dash clock - Clock was optional only on 300 & 300 Deluxe and was standard on everything else.
A34 - 4-way power windows. Hmmm? Up, Down, ... ok I give up. BTW, in 67 power windows were A31.

I guess with a VINAL interior and engine upgrades like a HOLLY carb they'd forget little things like rear seat belts and correct painting of the cove area during a restoration. For an asking price of $50K, I'd expect a little more but what would one expect from (apparently) a Mustang guy - check history. :(

I think this is one of those cars that may look better in photos than in person.. just my gut and I am not very impressed with the Photos! Is it a nice restored car.. sure... desirable colors, sure... but is it done to the level it should be to get $50,000?? I am not convinced... lots wrong from a Restored perspective and lots wrong from a Numbers matching perspective.. ie.. it's NOT. No paperwork, non original colors, not original engine, engine bay is needing detail work, and the list goes on... I am only saying this based on the current Bid... if the car was at $38K, I'd say, someone is getting a nice car. It looks to be a driven car, restored some time ago and now showing age...BUT there may be someone out there that just has to have a Triple Black 67 SS Rag top and will pay for it! and they are.. if real bids ;)

A good friend of mine just bought a Triple Black 67 SS Hardtop with docs., numbers matching drivetrain and pretty factory correct in it's resto...$75,000 at the Mecum auction 2 weeks ago.. Oh, did I mention it is a Real 396/375hp car... Yep... we both looked very closely at the docs, the hx., and the deck stamp and felt it was real deal... too much?? maybe, but I thought based on rareness, quality and paperwork, it was a good price.

This one is a $40K car IMO.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the L-34 was the highest hp offered in a convertible.

Consider yourself corrected sir :D

You could get all three HP engines in a Convert., 325 hp base, 350 hp and 375hp

Hey Dale,I have a 67 ss conv. that is a documented factory 4 speed bench seat car and has factory gauges ,it is need of full restore, when I bought it ,it diddnt have the clock on the floor,do you have a pic of the location in reference to the shifter?would there be any mounting holes on the tunnel that I could locate? thank Darryl

Don't have specs on the exact location, but here's a picture of one. The clock was optional on 300/300 Deluxe and standard on Malibu/SS396. Clock normally occupied the right dash pod but moved to console if console ordered (gauges or not) and moved to floor mount if no console AND gauges ordered.
