After swapping 12 bolts in my '69 (swapped a '66 for a date correct '69) I decided I needed new rear shoes. I put the shoes on and adjusted them where there was some drag but would still turn by hand. I did both sides this way. I had a little trouble hooking up the parking brakes as the cables seemed shorter than my other ones. Anyway, after loosening the nuts on the adjustment for the parking brake all the way until it was coming off, I was able to get the parking brake cables hooked up. Went for a test drive for a couple of miles and didn't notice any pulling to one side or anything like that. However, I felt of the drivers side drum and it was HOT! Not glowing or anything but pretty hot to the touch. I felt of the other side and it wasn't hot at all. Can someone help? thanks in advance.

Disconnect the parking brake cable on that side and test drive it again. If it's not heating up, it's the parking brake cables causing the problem. If it's still heating up, it's adjustment. Pull the drum if possible and back the adjustment off. Remember, the brake shoe adjustment and the parking brake adjustment are two seperate things. Each must be correct. If either is too tight, it'll cause that problem.

Also don't assume that those wheel cables are correct for your car just because they were on that rear before you installed it. You may need to replace them.
