ok, i am building a new 383.
I read in CHP (I think) where www.yourcovers.com (http://www.yourcovers.com)
makes some cool looking covers, kind of like stock. but at $200 a set !! graemlins/clonk.gif
So i'm thinking of making my own.
i was going to just get a cheap chrome set, paint chevy orange. I was told the cheap chrome ones bend and leak easy. the aluminum ones are better.
SO !
How can i paint aluminum valve covers??
just use the same ceramic paint that i painted on my block?

Clean them with an etching fluid called "alumaprep" and paint as usual. Alumaprep or an equivalent can be bought at body and paint stores.

I painted my aluminum Mickey Thompsons. I sanded them with 220,followed with self etch prime, epoxy prime then single stage urethane. Then i sanded the tops of the ribs and the letters back down to bare aluminum and polished them.I did the same with my aluminum intake.
