Here you go guys.
Picked her up form the dealer today. Had her aligned and all. Check it out.

BTW, the pics are with no chrome moldings on the grille. I painted the grille black 2 weeks ago and couldn't decide whether to install them again or not. But after i had enough time to look at it I think I'll install the moldings again.

Oh yeah, I am the fat guy... :D

Looking cool Olli, is the dropped spindal next ?? Not sure about mine yet. Still checking into it, gathering info to see how I want to go with the wheel change. :beers:

Hi Ollie,

Looks good. Are they 17's or 18's. I have 15's on my 69 and had
second thoughts.

Second thoughts were to go with a 16. I'm still not a fan of the big
wheel club, but I thought that a 16 would be okay.

Oh yeah, since you are in Munich, how is the weisswurst ? Alles Gute ya ?

Johnny, they are 17's. I like them a lot, but I will get some 245/45's on the front the next time i need new tires, the 245/40's are a little slim.

Also I am thinking about a 2" drop spindle disc brake swap. Should look nice with those wheels.

The Weisswurst is always good around here! ;) My coworkers and me are controlling the quality ourselves every second friday. :D

What width are the wheels? What size tires are you running in the back, and what is the backspacing on front and rear? Just wondering because that looks sweet.

They are 245/40R17 on 17x8 4.75 BS and 275/40R17 on 17x9.5 5.25 BS. Thanks!

Looks great!

I went to a party at my neighbors house last week and there was a guy from Germany there. A few of us went over to my place to check out my chevelle and he liked it. He said "you won't see this in Germany" and I said "well I know one guy!"

Ahhh, recognition...at last! J/K :D

Thanks Clark, you made my day with that!

In fact it is a very rare car around here and it turns heads everywhere.
Be sure to get back to me if you should visit Munich one day, I'll give you a ride in the Velle if you're feelin' homesick ;)

Don't know about the size though. I had a problem with that when I lived in Sweden, the Swedish tags are huge and just won't fit an American car at all. Last few years I lived there they allowed motorcycle tags on cars, and they fit much better. Maybe that's something you can do in Germany too?

Oh, yeah, almost forgot: The wheels look great!

Olle, yup there are smaller plates. As you can see I had to bend the rear plate which is not allowed, but i had to do it to get to the tank. It was the fault of the authorities, they gave me the big plates, but i called them a few weeks ago and they told me i could have the smaller ones. I'll do that next season ;). Until then I keep telling the people the plate is bent because of the wheelies... :D

I have been to Germany once only for a day, but it was about 12 years ago. I was 18! But it was nice to be old enough to drink a good German beer. I couldn't even tell you the name of the town now but I do have some pictures of it somewhere. I also got my first autobahn experience. I was staying in the Netherlands and I rode down with my friend, his dad was driving his mercedes. 255 Km/hr is fast for anybody, especially for an 18 year old!!

Nice ride. When I was over there in the '60s the insurance was based on horsepower. That was one reason I owned a Cortina. Is it still that way?????

Nope, not anymore. Insurance depends on the accident and theft statistics and value of that special car. Tax depends on the engine displacement and emission category. Thank god there is a low tax for historic vehicles (original cars, older than 30 years). With 400 CUI and no catalytic converter i would have to pay around $2000 a year!

With the historic license plate it is only $180. That's cheaper than my daily driver.

Car looks great Olli. Spent 3 years in Zwiebrucken in the late 80's. There were a few Chevys running around that area too, including a nice black SS454. I got to go back last October for a day. I was in the Netherlands(Almere) for some training and we zipped down to Germany on the middle weekend. Even had a small fest going on. A great time was had by all. :beers:

Keep up the good work on your Chevelle
