I am looking to build one of these cabinets that they sell, but it seems some of the parts are a little expensive(foot pedal).

Has anyone built one of these using some of their parts and bought other parts at the hardware store?

Somebody has posted pictures in the past. They got the kit from TPTools and built their own. It looked really nice. I bought the plans and was thinking about doing it myself. I know what you mean about the price. I thought about doing without the footpedal and use the hand held trigger. It would save about $100.

You can get a cabinet from Harbor Freight for about $299 and the Tiptools kit runs $250. So you would still have to build it and buy other odds and ends.

I'm just torn which one to do. I like the idea of being able to build it to size.

I built mine from the Tip tool plans, it works great. Get the foot pedal, it is a must. You will be holding the item to be blasted with one hand, and holding the blaster pistol in the other, it is much easier to use a foot pedal at the appropriate time than trying to also squeeze a trigger. Can't make the foot pedal. Their glass and plastic frame is also very good. Buy several plastic films that go on top of the glass. Occasionally you will need to put a new one one. You could make your own light for inside, as the one they sold me is really only a spotlight holder with glass spotlight. But it works real well. Much better than a florescent I suspect. Their plans to build it out of 3\4 inch plywood are very good. Wood holds up fine. The only thing I would add, and will add sometime in future, is a piece of tin on the rear wall, left side, where I shoot most of my media. Get their tube setup for drawing up the media to the gun. Their gun works fine, never changed a tip in 2 years, using it occasionally. I am very pleased with mine, and being from Canada, I couldn't afford their shipping and customs fees to buy the complete metal one.
