Two things to try. If its not real heavy paint try a purple cleaner, like purple power, castrol super clean, etc. Those work the best and will lift the paint sometimes. If its tuff, you can have this plastic media blasted without hurting it if they know what their doing, or I have even put them in my glass bead cabnet and cleaned them with real low pressure with good results. You can also try lacquer thinner to loosen it up.

I would try some fine steel wool, elbow grease and some lacquer thinner, maybe even dip the steel wool in lacquer thinner wash down any areas where the steel wool was near so little particles of it don't rust.

Good luck

Try oven cleaner on a small spot and see how well that works.

Go to any hardware and get some Xylol. Its a powerfull solvent, soak the box and it should wrinkle up. Works best on enamel.

Try plain old paint stripper in the can at the local hardware paint aisle.
