Mark,2 or 3 cans will work fine. The innner fenderwells and inside of the rear quarters get painted as well.I've used Plasti-Kote trunk spatter paint before with great results..just make sure you follow up with their trunk paint topcoat 505 clear acrylic. It not only protects the spatter paint, but it water proofs it as well.If you don't top coat it and the trunk gets wet,the spatter paint gets messy,to say the least..it'll look like spatter paint soup!

I have used the Plasti Coat paint and the GM paint. I ran out of the GM paint half way through application, and when I used the Plasti Coat stuff, the "splatters" weren't even similer, and it didn't cover as well. If you can track down the GM stuff, I think you'll be happy with the results

I've never used the GM stuff...I'm sure it's good. But,I've never had a problem with Plasti Kote spatter paint(not SPLATTER,it's "spatter".. splatter
makes it sound like blood paint in a B horror movie http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif )
Anyway,I just did the trunk in my 70 SS454,and it worked great as usual.

I did my trunk of my 67 with plasticote. I found the trick is to spray the trunk (especially dark spots) a light primer, preferably closest to the background color of the spatter paint. Here is a before and after pic of my 67.

BTW...for best results get in the trunk and work from back to front. Mine came out pretty good. The dark spots in the pic are just shadows

I agree that I like the GM spatter paint better. I did my trunk two weeks ago. The GM was a darker gray base and the "spatters" were larger. I ran out of GM paint and ended up covering everything with the plastikote. IMHO http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1551528&a=11769071

I went to KMart or Menards and picked up some stuff thats supposed to look like stone or granite I thought it worked better than the Plasti cote. They also have lots of different colors mine matched factory real close.
