I just picked up a 71 Chevelle wagon. Is there anyone that still makes sheet metal for these cars? I need fender heels, floor pan sections, and quarters. Any ideas? Or am I going to have to fabricate the parts?

Congratulations on your find.

I believe most of the lower body panels are interchangable with the ElCamino except the right rear quarter where the spare tire well hangs down, and on the left rear quarter, the fuel door is in a different location. Unfortunatly, there are no reproduction rr quarters being made.

I'm not too sure about the floor pans. It seems noone likes or makes 4 doors or wagons parts.

You can use Elky p[arts but you need to do a lot of homework before you start to cut. Anything can be done, ity just takes time and money... I mean patience. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

To bad you're not near SC. I have access to a 71/72 Nomad wagon body(less front clip).

Trips don't bother me. I was just in S. Carolina picking up a Camaro this summer. If the money is right and the body is decent, I would consider making another trip. Someone would have to store it for me till spring, though. Snow is making it hard to get the trailer around.

Maybe I should rephrase that. My wife pointed out to me that our first child is due in Feb. and long trips are discouraged. Hmmm, so this is what fatherhood is like, huh?

hey drg racr,my wife and i are having our first baby in feb as well.congrats and good luck.as for sheetmetal good luck there too.i have a 65 2dr wagon and it needed floor work done.luckily it had another floor sheetmetal screwed on top of the rusty orig one.but i did some investigating and i think you can make a cpe or htp floor patch panel fit.cause all you probably need is the lower portions of the panels.just tell her that the wagon will be the car show cruiser for the whole family and maybe it will work for you.

She does like the idea of the wagon as a commuter and family show car/cruiser. Just gotta watch the spending. No lumpy big block/4-speed combos yet.

After much research for my 68 Nomad wagon I found that ALL floor pans are the same. 2dr, 4dr, wagon, conv and Elco. I got an email yesterday from a team member who said he is in the middle of doing the floorpans on a 4-door '65. The pans are labeled as being for 64-72 GM A Body and the stampings all match with what he has. The only exception is the Elco (the rear needs some minor modification). I have contacted 6 suppliers and they all only carry one part number. I can't find a whole pan but I have found left and right halves or all 4 foot well replacements. These are weld in patch panels. I am hot on the trail of a lower fire wall patch panel because my rust goes that high.
