I noticed my garage floor was wet the other day but the garage is old so I assumed I had a roof leak even though I couldn't remember a hard rain recently. I hadn't driven it much lately so decided to take it for a spin last night. Anyway it was a little hard to start which is unusual but after it started I noticed right away that I smelled a strong fuel odor and it was surging. My car is injected and I have a pressure guage tap inline just as it comes out of the frame rail to the engine bay. I't does have clamps on each side of the port and I found both clamps were very loose and thats where I found the fuel leak. Now at first I though maybe they had loosened on there own though the clamps are specifically for fuel injection line. Keep in mind I'm very aware of the higher pressure involved here. Well I tighten the clamps and checked it for leaks..Okay I crank back up and am about to get back in the car and I notice I've Also got pretty big leak from the other side which turns out to be a coolant leak. Well what I find is that the radiator petcock is just barely closed. I spin it with one finger. Now my car stays locked in my garage and I haven't driven it in about 2 months. I can only remember going to a couple of cruise-in's and driving it to work once.
I'm pretty sure someone jacked with it but I don't know why or when. I can just imagine what would have happened with 40 psi fuel stream if ithe lines had come off. Now I'm thinking I better check my oil pan..

That's why I allways have someone stay with the car at shows.

I had some idiot mess with my return spring at a Goodguys show. Boy, was I mad as well as scared. My throttle stuck on the way home. I could beat the crap out of someone if not worst.

All ways have someone stay with the car or lock it up!

I had the dial on my adjustable proportioning valve messed with at a show once. Luckily I noticed the rears locking up on somewhat hard braking at a stop-light, rather than a panic stop on the freeway

I just can't fathom anyone going to a car show (presumed to have some interest in cars) wanting to damage or vandalize the cars there. I've sometime questioned guys about how they did something and refrain from speaking up when I see things I would do differently. It had never dawned on me that people would mess with someones car, especially crawling under it and risking getting a boot to the ass when they came out (must have had a lookout, premeditation, even worse). I always drive mine daily and except for some recent gas theft (memo to self buy locking cap) have never had anyone mess with any of mine, that I knew of, in 35 years. Gas line loosening is scary.....

A couple of years ago I left mine for a few minutes while I went and got something to eat. The hood had been closed and when I returned the hood was open. Not sure who opened it or why. I usually stay with mine as much as possible. Since I was in law enforcement and could have some people who really don't care for cops come by, I always thought it best to be close to the car.Maybe they just wanted to see what kind of motor the cop had in his car.

Have only done one of the all day car shows. While looking at other cars I left the hood closed and locked. I've replaced the pins/cables with actual locks. Then opened the hood and sat next to it the rest of the day and got sunburned, but was able to hop up and watch if anyone leaned over too far. Funny thing how even little kids and old ladies have to look at the engine, and mine's not all that exciting. Have had a locking gas cap for over a year now, our old cars are too easy to siphon.

If you ever do a World of Wheels show, you have to set your vehicle up in show stance the night before the show opens and leave it that way for the whole show. It is inside a building though.

It got so bad a couple of years ago that the guys I hang with had to post a guard to stay and watch the cars during the awards ceremony. There were cars getting keyed, stuff getting stolen out of the trunks and passenger compartments, and things getting spilled on the interiors. This was at the Christian Classic Cruiser show when it was at the old location near the old North Hills Mall, which has since shut down. This particular mall was near some very run down low rent neighborhoods where a lot of white trash types live. They weren't the type of people who cared much about other peoples' property. All you had to do was look at how little they cared about their own property to figure that out. The CCC club moved the show a much better location a few miles up the road, and there haven't been any problems with vandals this year.

Went to a cruise night in El Monte Ca one night, and locked up the car, walked away to get a soda at the store and when I came back there was some guy leaning on my car. So, I walked around it, looking, like I was checking it out, and when I got to where the guy was, I said "Nice car, what's it got in it?" He gave me a funny look like what was I talking about, then said "this ain't my car, man" I said,
"RIGHT! IT'S MINE AND IF YOU DON"T GET YOUR SORRY (expletive deleted) OFF MY FENDER I'M GOING TO FEED IT TO YOU" about an inch from his nose.

I didn't see him for the rest of the night.
