We'll I'm underway with the 72. Spent a fortune on a paint gun, DA, and sand paper, primer, block sander, etc.. etc.. Thanks again for all of your suggestions, it made making the decisisons on what to get so much easier. I was also lucky enough to go into the body shop supply place today when one of the outside sales guys was there. He was filling in for someone that was out sick and isn't normally in the store. He used to be in the actual business and was very helpful and informative. Even gave me his card so I could call him if I ran into any trouble.
I have had one success already. Today I removed the door hinges on the driver side, one at a time and rebuilt them. The top ones were so worn that even after installing the rebuild bushings and pins the elongated holes allowed to much slop so I welded around the holes, and then used the file I sharpen my chain saw blade with to file out the holes to a snug fit. After I had them back on I used a floor jack and a 4x4 wooden block to make final adjustments and they have never been better. No drop when you open the doors, smooth operation... I took advantage of the opportunity to clean up the jambs and hinges and sand them down for primmer while I had them off. I hope to do the other side on sunday...
Now for the guestion. The windsheild and rear window are out of the car and so is one rear side window. I have all new window felts and want to get the old ones out of the way until after I have the car painted. I will be having the glass installed professioanlly but, just so I don't screw it up, what is the proceedure for removing the side glass? Both front and back...
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can make.
