I threw some power to a starter i just picked up for free and the solenoid just clicks and buzzes. When i took the solenoid off and shot power straight thru the motor, it engaged and spun just fine.
Is the solenoid needing replaced?

take the back of the solenoid off, theres a washer in there you can flip over and turn the big bolt 180 degrees and it should be good to go. jim

Put the starter back together. Place it in a vise and tighten it down. Use a broom stick.Place the stick into the gear drive and power it up. If it makes saw dust-its good. If it doesn't-needs a new one.
