I have a 71' el camino. And I was wondering:
You know how in order to open the hood, you have to pull the latch through the bumper and lift the hood? Well, thats too much effort for me, so is there a way to make a latch thats actually attached to the hood so I can reach just under the lip of the hood and pull it there? Like on newer cars?

Well since reaching down one extra foot is TOO MUCH work smile.gif I would buy one of these eletric motor setups that the street rod crowd use. Push of a button and the hood raises lowers and even latches all by itself

Not only easy but very trick. Just think next car show amaze your car buddies with your MAGIC hood graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Does that raise it all the way? Or just enough for you to get a grip and lift it yourself?

And who sells them. The less I have to try the better ;)

Fubar last fall I attend the fall goodguys show in KC where this drop dead gorgous pearl white 40 ford deluxe coupe stole the show. The car had power everything. The deck lid was power along with the hood, doors whatever you could think of was power.

Anyway this hood operated all by itself, unlatched latched raised and lowered all by the single push of a button. I wish I could remember the maker of the system he used cause I thought of doing something like that to the velle.

If you pick up any street rodder, rod&custom super rod whatever mag you will be able to find these eletric motors.

Believe it or not Ive seen them installed on everything from gas lids to hard cover bedliners.

Check out this supplier of parts, they catrer to the street rod people

Althou I have the catalog right in front of me am too lazy to thumb thou and look for this unit graemlins/sad.gif Their number is 800-426-6607 if they dont have those units they will know where to find them.
Also might want to check out IOWA's own street rod company called Yogi's. Not sure of the site name but they are super friendly people and know Yogi personally.

If you really want something diff find the Yogi website and look for a 46 ford roadster pickup  Part 46 ford convert part 53 ford pickup, we built the prototype for that truck errr car
