There is a 1970 Chevelle Malibu Convertible 350 with a factory 3 speed on the column, all original good condition on Ebay for sale now. Does anyone know how many were made like this? How much is it worth? Thanks!

Unless it was assembled in Canada, there are no firm numbers as to how many of what were built. That said, it is rare (odd) to see a small block 3 speed Vert. Most would have a TH350 in them. However, there is a guy in Phoenix that has a large collection of Chevrolets back into the early 50's ALL are six cylinder autos. He likes 6's. Even a '58 Impala with skirts and everything. So, you never know.

How much is it worth? Probably the same or a little less than one with an automatic on the column... IMO, most people will want a floor shifted car, or an automatic on the column...

Far too many people associate "rare" with "desireable"... Rarity does NOT increase value (unless its a desirable option that causes the rarity).

In this case, unless someone truly wants the three-on-the-tree column, than the value will be reduced... But probably not too much... Hard to place the value without knowing more about the car and seeing it first hand...

I've only heard of 2 other '70 Malibu convertibles with 3-in-the-tree shifters. Tom Parsons (DZAUTO) had one before converting it to a hot 400 small block & 4-speed Muncie. The only other one I have seen like it was at the Northern Chevelle Gathering in western NY last summer. That's it. BTW, I remember these cars new, plus dad bought a 3-in-the-tree Biscayne new in '70. By that time they were becoming oddballs.Hey, if you're not in a hurry and you keep it tight, a 3-in-the-tree is actually not bad. Somebody has to save at least one example though! Maybe that's my calling.
