Got both front fenders and the drivers side inner fender back on the 71' this weekend....it actually looks like a car again!
Thanks MARTINSR for your panel alignment post, even a body novice like me was able to get through it following your advice. every thing fit perfectly. I guess it isn't as difficult when your working with the orignal panels.
I guess it is a blessing in disguise that I did'nt get the passenger side inner fender on, because after i fired her up tonight I noticed that the heater core was leaking a bit http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif ..guess I'd better go ahead and change it before the inner goes back on. Man I hate changing heater cores.

Now for my hood question,
The flat hood that came with this car has a rubber strip at the rear to seal to the cowl area. The used GM SS cowl hood (dome hood not cowl induction) that I bought to put on it did not have this strip when I got it nor is there any evidence that it ever did have it...should it???

Thanx for any advice,
Dwayne

Dwayne, glad I could be of help.
On you latest question, I really don't know.
Ask in a new post and put it in the subject title, not everyone who could know will read this. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I believe all hoods had the hood to cowl seal.. I would recommend putting one on. Good Luck!

I agree, the panel alignment posting by Martinsr is really well done for folks like me who do not have a clue.

There are two hood seals. one is called the cowl to hood seal and mounts in front of the windshield. The other is called rear hood seal and it mounts (you guessed it) on the rear of the hood. Both are readily available from Year One, Paddock, and I think I saw both in Ground up.

Good luck
