I have 1971 SS454 w/ TH400 (2400 stall), Gear Vendor OD, 4.10 rear. I'd like to put the following into the engine:

Edlebrock Aluminum Performer RPM Cylinder Heads 118cc chamber, 290 cc Intake
Edlebrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake manifold (PERMASTAR finish)
Edlebrock 750cfm Carb
Lunati Street/Strip hydraulic cam (302A9) 296/306, .575/.580, 114/110
Lunati Lifters (71817)
Lunati Timing set - Double Roller 9 way adjustable lower gear w/ torrington bearing

The car is street only. I want a nice blend of power, speed, driveability and a cool sounding cam.

Too much gear. Maybe a 3:73 would be better.

Do yourself a farvor and buy AFR heads... you'll be much happier with them.

Pass on the Edelbrock carb..get a 3310 Holley or a double pumper
What pistons do you have in your motor?

i think what you have will work great for a street application. yes, you can probably make more power with AFR heads and a Holley carb (and i do prefer Holley carbs). but what you have mentioned will make tons of torque and be very drivable, yet sound pretty healthy too.

That cam I belive is the Lunati hydraulic version of the LS6 replacement and therefore would likely be happier with more compression ,than probably about the 9 to 1 you have?
I would suggest one of Comp Cams XE's or one of the Lunati Voodoos either solid or hydraulic(no more than 274 with 284 being max).
Will be a fine running /sounding machine that will likely have more launch power than the stock suspension/street tires can handle.(Mega tire smoke) Pull like a bear in mid range too.
