I have installed 7.5 Roxio and created a mpg file that works fine on the computer the program was installed on. If I try to run the file on another computer I get an error message "missing codec" . Have tried Roxio support but what a trip. They are useless. Any suggestions? Thanks Jon.
Anyone know of a good program for slideshows with audio?

MicroSofts Photo Story 3 is a free program that's pretty cool.

A codec is used to decode a file. The player you are using on the other computer cannot handle the mpg file because it lacks the means to decode it.

Most players come with the ability to handle certain types of files and you can sometimes add more codecs to handle more types. Go to the website for the player and look for a codec to handle mpg files or use another player that can handle the file or do a Google search for it.

If you are simply clicking on the file the system may be trying to open the file with a program that cannot handle the file. Try opening your program first then open the file from the program. Window Media Player should be able to handle mpg files.
