Hey fellas,
I have a 2 pc rear main 4 bolt 454 block out of an 89-90 1 ton truck. I have a cast 4.250 crankshaft. I intend to purchase some 6.385 inch rods unless you think I can use the stock rods. What pistons would you go for? I'd like to stay reasonable on the price. I will be running 781 heads with some bowl blending and larger valves if money allows. I already have the heads. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

SRP makes god pistons and the off-the-shelf ones are not that bad on price. After that you can fdrop down to a forged TRW/SP/F-M style or go to KB Ht style. There's not many good ways to save money on the bottom end of a stroker BB. They will load the pistons hard if you're making any power.

I got mine from ROSS and yes, use 6.385" longer rods to avoid Heavi-Metal balancing and cam-cutting the counterweights hassles.
Been there, done that..

AND remember, you will need at least a 96 to a 101 cc head with true flat-tops to make 9.7 to 10.1 to 1 CR!
Using .020" thick shim headgaskets and a piston down in the hole of a stock, about .025"!!!

Should I have my heads milled down? Also would I be wasting my time bolting a set of stock 781 heads?
