My recently acquired '68 el Camino is understood to be the "Custom" model. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=597309471&ed=1004928522
26,690 Customs built for '68, right? As I've researched (including the TC search option) I can only identify the simulated woodgrain "decal" across the tailgate and the Malibu fender emblems as obvious variances. Was the woodgrain facia applied anywhere else during this, or similar years? It actually doesn't seem to compliment the interior or exterior finish...Understandably, many choose to not re-apply this feature during exterior re-finish, but I'll keep mine since that's the way it was intended. Nearly eight weeks now with my new ride and I'm still grinning! Take care.

27,762 Custom El-Caminos were built in 1968.
26,690 of them with a V8 engine.
1,072 with a straight 6 engine.

With your engine option (307ci engine)
20,499 Custom El-Caminos were built.

The 1968 Custom El-Camino had Malibu emblems on the fenders.
I am sure they had other features..
But i don't know them.. Sorry.
