Has anyone installed quarterpanels sold by Ground Up on a 69 Chevelle? How did they fit? Where are they made? Goodmark won't have any ready until March.

I have quarter panels from Ground Up also and will be putting them on in the next week or so, I'll let you know. They seem to be good quality, I think Dynacorn made them but I'll double check.

They are on the car, but it was a pain to get them on. The bends/molds weren't in the right places and it took lots of tweaking to get them to fit right. The drivers side is much better than the passenger side, but that could be because we knew what we had to do second time around. They are Dynacorn quarter panels. For $1000 we expected more, but we made them work.

So Circletrack, If you had the choice to buy a NOS for 1500.00 or the dynacorn's for 1000.00 for the pair , what would you do ?? The car their going on isn't a matching #'s car or anything special like that. This is my dilema. Thanks for the imput , Don

Racer,
I replaced my passenger side on my 69 with a Dynacorn full rear. There was some tweeking but if wasn't that difficult. I must admit that I had a friend who is a professional body man helping. I paid $399 for mine. I have also put two 69 NOS rear quarters on in the past. They both needed some tweeking as well. I purchased them back in the mid 90's when they were still available from GM so I got them for ~$600 each but those prices are long gone. $399 vs $1500 there is no way I did $1100 worth of labor to get the DII quarter to work and when finished the results were identical to the NOS quarters I installed. Hope this helps.

Well, my car is #'s matching and we went with the Dynacorn quarters. I don't think you'll find much difference other than the hefty price. Once you get them on, you'll have to work a bit no matter which you decide to use, and once the final coat of clear is on, will anyone notice the extra money? Probably not.

Crowenate, You can order them from Ground Up. Their 439.00 plus shipping. I'm in NJ and the shipping was 129.00. Haven't got it yet,but the trucking company said I should have them by Tuesday. Can't wait to get started !!

I have the driver’s side on the car and ½ of it welded. I want the other side on and in position before I line up the new rear deck. I am starting the other side, and should have that on in a week or two. The only problem that I ran into is at the top of the quarter where the bottom quarter window felt seal goes. Where it meets the door window felt, the quarters are stamped 1/16 of an inch to far in, and it is very hard to adjust this area due to the curvature of the door jam. Not only that but that strip where you screw the window felt seal to the quarter, is about 3/8 of an inch wider by the door, but tapers up the quarter to the roof railing to the right with. I needed to flatten out that area and do some cutting with a die grinder and re-bend to the proper with using the window felts from the door as a guide, it looked pretty crappy when first installed but great now. The metal is a lot thinner than the originals (be careful when welding especially by the door latch), but also 5-6 lbs lighter than what came off the car. Make sure the trunk is installed with at gasket before lining up the rear, that’s where I ‘m at now.

Those are EXACTLY the problems we ran into when installing ours. It does take a bit of work, but hopefully they will look great once you get them on. We were going to call GU when we're all done to let them know about these issues, I think it's only fair customers are warned in advance.
