I have a Powermaster mini-starter, supposed to be good up to 10.5:1 which is about what I have. Upon firing up my motor for the first time, I noticed that the starter seemed kind of weak, especially for a gear reduction, hi-buck unit like this. (bought it used, of course, but it seems brand new)

Upon initial cranking, it would barely turn over, and then gradually get faster and faster. I believe i am a tooth off on my distributor placement, could this have anything to do with it? Or is it possibly a grounding issue? I have the cable from the bat going to the block, with the small pigtail going to the fender.

(EDIT: after doing a little more research it appears that I may have a bad ground.)
