Looking for advice on fixing my front left fender, that was smashed when my wheel came off the axle about three years ago...I'd probably be able to pound out the fender and work fromthere but it looks like there is some bondo near the bottom already. Another problem I'm running into is that the malibu has a buick white paint job with a pearl clearcoat that was done about 8 years ago. There is also some detailing (tri-color blue) around the wheelwells. The paint job still looks sharp aside from a few chipped corners and being in college I don't have the money or desire to redo the whole car. First, what are your thoughts on repro vs. used fenders for replacement? Next, I have no experience in bodywork, is fitting in the part a difficult task? Finally what are thoughts on the color match and what should I look for when choosing a body shop to do the work? Thanks guys,

Brent, try to post some pictures and I'm sure you'll get some help here. Sounds like the color is going to be a tough match. The lower portions of these fenders are known for rot, the brace running along the fender backside holds dirt and debris along with moisture. When repairs are made effort should also be made to prevent the corrosion from happening again. As far as working the damage/dent a picture would identify the proper proceedure needed to correct the damage. fitting a replacement fender can be tricky but very do-able with average skills and alot of patience. You may opt to paint the complete side of the car for acceptable color match.
