: Trunk lock Blues

I am looking for some ideas on how to get into the trunk short of buying a couple of 3' flea market extensions and going in thru the back seat. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/mad.gif

The key turns a good 90 degrees but it won't release the trunk latch. I am thinking the activating lever slipped off the flat bar that turns when the key turns. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif

Anybody have any tricks of the trade I could try? I dread the backseat ordeal.
Good thing I didn't hide Christmas presents in the trunk this year like I have in years past or there would have been a much greater sense of urgency a few days ago. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif
TIA for any ideas. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I had the same problem with my '86 Regal. I took the back seat out and used a long screwdriver to open it. It worked OK, but having long arms helps.

I had the same problem with my 69 and 72. I turned the key back to the left while pushing the trunk lid down a few times and then turned it the right and the trunk opened right up. I don't think that will work for you but give it a try. Good Luck.

Happend to me as well..
Never knew what was in the trunk.
Untill one day an ass-hole drilled my trunk lock (he tried to brake into the car), and he never opened it for some reason.
He just drilled the lock, slashed the metal around it, and just left it that way.
Now i open my trunk with a flat screwdriver.

But i am getting a new trunk soon.. (From the guy here with the 70 Chevelle.. he has a spare one... i am too lucky.)

What i am saying is.. Park the car outside, wait a couple of weeks.. and you can open you trunk then http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif At least it worked for me...
