: New body mounts, now I've got a problem

Over the weekend, my brother and I replaced the body mounts in my '67 Chevelle convertible. The old mounts were shot, even torn, and were as this as paper. The new mounts are stock replacements, not poly or anything. I didn't measure the thickness of the new mounts but I'd say they were 1/2" plus.
Now the transmission is hitting the inside of the tunnel.
A little backround: The car has a 1999 LS1 engine and a 4L60E transmission. The clearance in the transmission tunnel was very tight before but it never, ever hit the floorboards. I can't see exactly where in the tunnel it's hitting but as I remember from when I swapped the engine/transmission in, the tightest spot was about 2-3 inches back from the firewall. I even had to clearance it at that time with my 5 lb sledge.
At the same time we did the body mounts, I relpaced the front and rear coil springs. Could this have changed anything?
The only thing I notice on the car is that the filler panel between the front bumper and the grill now has a slight gap between it and the bumper, on the drivers side. There was no gap before, so I'm assuming the body moved a little back on the drivers side. But I would think this would give me MORE room in the tunnel? Am I thinking this correctly?
Could I have bent the body lifting it? Anyone else had this kind of a problem?
Help me solve my problem before my wife kills me!!

Also, looking to purchase a Posi rear-end, 10 or 12 bolt, prefer 3.08 or 3.36 ratio, for a 64 thru 67 Chevelle.

I would think the tunnel would be higher now with new bushings, so I would suspect that the body has shifted one way or another. When I did mine, it moved the body over to the driver side, and I couldn't get my slicks on the car (passenger side wouldn't clear). Had to loosen everything up and square the body back on the frame. I would start with that. Measure the space between your wheels and the lips of the fender and see if you are over one way or another (left/right or driver/passenger). Then, loosen all the bolts and get several buddies to help you move the body around. It's probably not necessary, but I would keep the doors closed on the vert to avoid any body twisting. Have fun and keep us posted...Body bushing work is terrible!
