i have a borg warner t-10 out of a 1976 trans am , aluminum case passenger side speedo cable hook up and my question is this . it will shift fine all day you can hammer that thing and it doesent hate you for it . But when you put it in first if you jam it in or push it in hard the car wont move , if you just slide it into first nicely your fine . its nothing that really is a big problem for me but i want it right any ideas ?

Make sure the shifter is partually dragging the reverse arm with it. I have had that problem on a couple of older shifters.
