cannot decide if I should part it out
or consider restoration

what do you guys think?

I really like that front grill.. in black like a gs its just killer! What is it a 72? I want more pictures!!! I don't know if its better to part it or restore it but its probably got plenty of parts on it I could use if you part it :) Can you even get repop sheetmetal for it?

Tom's 68
Oct 6th, 05, 5:51 PM
I was thinking of maybe reskinning it with 69 chevelle sheetmetal and making a clone 69SS convertable to compliment the 68 I have
but that is one heck of a pipe dream
the grill is pitted but if it is being painted - that could be fixed I would think
and yes it is a 72
since this is the wrong area for sales and that kind of stuff
pm me if you think there would be stuff you could use
and then I may consider the parting out route

and sure I could make some room for a 67 ss vert
only problem is - well I will need you to sign that little line on the back of the title that says um signature of seller :D :D
problem with the buick convertible is that it doesn't fit into chevelle acres too well :D
the story I told my wife was that it is a parts car and I will be getting rid of what I don't need - didn't tell her that it was the spare flat tire and beat up hub caps that I didn't need though

It does not look that bad, I have seen worse fixed. I guess it depends on the frame, floors and trunk. That would be my determining factor.

Tom's 68
Oct 7th, 05, 7:58 AM
the frame has some very deep scaling of rust - more than I would like to see

but I have a spare frame

motor is siezed - fine place to drop in one of those spare 350's I have laying around

and since the tranny won't work with a chevy motor - I could find a home for one of those sag 4 speeds that I can't get rid of

it has a white interior with the lighted rear entryway and the front seat has the fold down armrest - that is kinda neat

till my 68 is done though - it is probably going under a tarp

I like the pizza cutter wheels on the front end. Thats why Tom bought it, lol

Makes it look like its ready for the drag strip.

Yep your Stealth Mode dont work on us any more, LOL

Oh by the way Tom I just picked up my rolling frame today and brought the 69 vert home to strip her down and get it ready for the galvanizer next. WHOOHOO!!!:hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: Now comes all the fun parts and parts and parts! OMG and lots of parts. At least all my parts are ziplocked and labled around 250 of them PIMP...

Tom's 68
Oct 8th, 05, 8:27 AM
my frame has been done for the 68 for over a year now

just cannot seem to get the time to work on this thing

was so busy working this year - I barely touched it

but all the bills all got paid off

now when it is time to go back to working on it - hopefully I will have the required cash that I will need to do the couple of things that I want to do

I still want to build the new garage to put it in

the old garage isn't big enough and has a dirt floor

1badss396
Oct 8th, 05, 11:42 AM
I know the feeling, my 2 spare bedrooms are getting filled with restored parts from my 69 now and my garage is filled to the brim with all the rest of the parts I just picked up the other day that have to be striped and painted, then they go in one of the spare bedrooms + now I have the rolling frame it put in my garage and strip all that down. And to top that my 70 chevelle I had to put it in one of my other houses with some of my nos parts, lol Now I have a list going of were and what parts are located. I need a BIG GARAGE SOON. Atleast I did get the ok to build a BIG GARAGE after the first of the year looking to do a 45' x 60' detached one on my 20 acres here. That would be great looked into one last month of how much and here ists expensive around $70,000 OMG! eeeekkkkk so I told the wife she gets to pay for it since I paid for her 40' x 60' barn 5 years ago when we built the house, hehehe and she agreed. Thank god !!

Tom's 68
Oct 8th, 05, 6:25 PM
I can't even get my wife to pay for her car registration

her paying for a garage would be in that same pipe dream as turning the buick into a 69 clone ss

just can't wait to see the look on her face when she doesn't have a current registration at the end of the month - I told her I don't have the money 'cause I'm saving for the garage:D

that one looks like it may need a few things
but, I would have rather found that one than the one I found
then again - that 67 all original sounds like the really cool find
hope that one pulls through for badss
either way - any chevelle to find it's way back to the road is just cool

but' just like you - I have a ton of rolling junk piles sitting here with plans for the future
the chevelles are not part of the junk lists either
I have two dumptrucks, the buick, two regular pickups, the wifes minivan, a pickup truck full of really nice engines that have nowhere to be installed
auto trannies, manual trannies, 12 bolt rears, tons of sheetmetal
then I still have my two chevelles - one is well under way but the 69 ss is still sitting on the dream pad

Fresh pictures of my 69 convertible frame, sitting their wating for me to strip down. what sucks is I have been wating for 2 months to get the car to this point and get it ready to take it to the galvanizer and start putting it back together and maybe have it done for my birthday in May was hoping to make it a 1 year project car. But now I just got suckered into hauling a friends dads 55 Convertible up to Pigeon Forge Tenn in my enclosed trailor this friday. So this will set me back yet another weekend from working on my car :(.

So this means I will have to work harder during the week another late nights , boy the wife is gunna love that, lol
She loves the air impact gun, and hammer at 1:00 AM , lol  good thing I have no close neighbors.

I know the feeling Tom.

Think it might be cause we spend ALL our spare time on the computer ?might have a small part to do with it
but actually this is the only place I really ever go on the computer
normally about 20 minutes before work, 20 minutes after work and about a half hour before bed
and now that everyone knows me schedule on the computer
I will now give you the schedule on the backhoe - been turning away work because there is so much of it
and now the handyman schedule - same thing
got lots of money set away for the vert - and sure I could pay someone else to do it - but then it would not be the same
I want to do it my self on my time schedule
ALL GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME

Ok I finally got the phone # for the guy with the 67 Convertible and he is out of town for 2 weeks and said he would let me see the car and talk about it. I will let you know whats the deal with the 67 when he gets back.

Chevk this one out would be a killer deal if he included the Rose Wood steering wheel with it!

it looks to be in about the same shape as my 68 was when I ripped it apart

except for my original doors
they were already off and wrapped in plastic sitting in the dirt behind the guys garage that I got it from

the were wasted

now I have a set that needs some work - but they are in a bunch better shape
