yellow67396 Oct 6th, 05, 11:25 AM Hi I am new to Team Chevelle so this will be my first post. I know that this question probably gets asked allot but I am curious what my 1/4 mile time would be for my car.

BillsCamino Oct 6th, 05, 11:31 AM Welcome!
My guess would be a traction deficient mid 14's with the Goodyears.
mr 4 speed Oct 6th, 05, 11:32 AM Probably mid- high 13's..first run will probably be in the 14's
yellow67396 Oct 6th, 05, 12:18 PM Thanks for the quick reply's that is what I thought Mid 14's maybe high 13's
not want I want it to do, I would like to run high 12's. Without going to radical what do I need to get it into the 12's?. Also how much would a 100 shot of the juice bring my times down?
71malibu406 Oct 6th, 05, 8:16 PM i'd get some decent tires like some drag radials for it and get an ET and see where you're at. without knowing your compression, exhaust size, and not having traction it's hard to tell what it will run. a buddy of mine had a factory 350hp 402 with a 3.73 gear and m/t sportsman pro 26x10.5's, a stealth intake, 3310 holley, comp 280 cam, and 1 3/4" headers with 2 1/2" exhaust FM 40's, and it ran 13.00's all the time. i think he did finally get a 12.98 the last super chevy show he went to. btw, his car had a th400 with a 3200rpm stall.
yellow67396 Oct 19th, 05, 10:44 AM What do you think I am putting out in Horse Power at the crank?
67RS502 Oct 19th, 05, 11:15 AM whats the cam duration at 50?
with that we can make a good guess.
BillsCamino Oct 19th, 05, 11:15 AM What do you think I am putting out in Horse Power at the crank?
I would guess in the 400-425HP range.
Did you ever get a chance to run your car in the 1/4?
If so, what did it run? The trap speed MPH will give a pretty good indication of HP...
yellow67396 Oct 19th, 05, 12:30 PM My duration at .50 is 212 int and 218 exh. I still have not been able to take it to the track. Work and family have me pretty busy these day's
Should I change the Carb? I had a Holley 750 in it when I first got the car but it ran really rich with that carb fuel fouled plugs and all. I rebuilt it and played around with the jetting but could not get it to work out for me. I bolted on a Speed Demon 750 and it ran even richer than the Holley. A friend of mine told me that he had a 396 and he said it ran it's best with a 650CFM Carb. I bought a Holley Street Avenger 670CFM and it runs the best it ever has. What is the deal why can't I get the engine to run right with a 750? Keep in mind that when I was running the 750's I had the stock cast iron manifold now I have a Performer RPM. I wonder if that would make a difference.
blown70 Oct 19th, 05, 12:47 PM A big-block,4 speed,3.73's,3750ish lb car.....and RADIALS???:clonk:
That should be entertaining...Put real tires on,practice with the 4-speed on the track, add 75hp nitrous and you'll run 12's.
BillsCamino Oct 19th, 05, 12:54 PM IMO, a Demon 750 would be a little too big but a Holley 750 vac secondary carb should work mint! Probably just the condition of that specific carb...possibly a blown PV. Intake shouldn't really matter...stock QJet was bigger yet.

Do you have any suggestions for real tires? I drive this thing on the street and would like to make occasional trips down the 1/4 mile.
