My neighbor gave me some of this stuff called Phantom chrome and glass cleaner, made by KEBRO Inc. he said just rub it on the chrome and itll take the surface rust off. Before i do this i dont want to warp the chrome, I have heard of using some fine steel wool like a scotch brite pad maybe to try and take the surface rust off, then just put some wax on it. What is the best way going about doing this? And can anybody recomend good wax for chrome? Thanks.

Find a piece of chrome from something you aren't using on your car, or one from a junkyard, and try it first.
You'll know within a couple of hours what it actually does or doesn't do.
Hope this helps.

Steelwool or a ScotchBright will scratch and dull your chrome. If it doesn't come off with the cleaner and a soft terry cloth towel chances are the chrome is pitted and trashed anyhow. Then it's time to rechrome. :(
If you are on a budget and can live with a little dulling, then try as fine a steelwool that will remove the rust. Don't use the steelwool alone use it with a chrome cleaner or soap to help lubricate and keep the dulling to a minimum. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
