Im wanting to put primer over paint. what would be the best type of primer to use? heres what im want to do, keep in mind that this is going on a 1941 ford truck. ( know this is a chevelle site) what im trying to acheive is a 50's retro look. I will sand the veichle down then want to prime it in black primer. I want to try and put a little peral in the primer and see how it comes out as well. what do you guys think? any suggestions? thanks

Your question is kind of vague- What paint is on the truck? What shape is it in? Does it need bodywork?etc.

I am not a paint expert, but I doubt that putting pearl in primer will do anything at all, but I could be wrong. I just dont think you can get a "pearl" effect with a primer- its not supposed to be glossy. If your'e wanting to do a "street rod" style prime job- take a look at NAPA's TInt/prime. I want to do that and was recommended it by MartinSr- the paint and body guru of the board. As a matter of fact, look at the post that shows MartinSR's cars- his convertible Buick is done with TInt/PRime red- and it darn near looks like paint.
