Has anyone tried one of these radiators in their chevelle? They look real nice. Wonder how much they cost though.

Just got an email back from them about the price. $947 for the rad and twin fans. not too bad compared to a be cool. Anyone have experience with them? More specifically on a street/strip car.

I think RonDavis makes some pretty good stuff but some fair warnings about these "racing and performance" claims etal.

Racing doesn't translate to "street" or even "street/performance" very well on anything really. There are separate goals and parameters at stake. For example, racing radiators are most efficient with constant high rpms. Alot of "racing" manufacturers design multi-pass design radiators which give avid performance for round track cars doing 9000rpms all night..... but are not the best for street applications because of the significant reduction in flow (8 X less in fact!...for a double flow compared to a single flow) thru the cores. At idle and slow speeds...this effects your cooling capacity drastically. So, moral of the story......keep to single-pass technology only (recognised by the usual cap on the passenger side....the inlet on the driverside.......and outlet on the passenger side.)

I do think the "multi-louvered" fin technology that RD uses to in fact be a superior design.....but do you need it? I don't know...but it is more efficient. I also know a few guys running them and they like em.

Got one in my '69, fan is stock GM 7 blade with new thermostatic clutch. No issues at all. Got mine on a parts trade, it was a universal fit type, but it did fit well and works well. Increased my capacity significantly over the stock replacment radiator that was in there.

I installed one in my Callaway ZR-1 and it worked great. Their A-body fan shrouds are a work of art.
Stock C4 Corvette radiators leave something to be desired.
