Will a 71-2 bumper mount up to a 70 body/frame, a question asked at the local cruise nobody seemed to know.

Sure, but note the turn signals. 70 in the bumper. 71-72 next to the headlights.
Also in 70 there were 2 different Turn signal lenses. Round for el Camino and Monte Carlo while Chevelles had rectangular

That is what I was waiting for you to clarify...

Rear bumpers will fit on either. However the wiring harness and lower valance is different between the two styles. Just use the harness and valance for the right year bumper and you'll be fine.

Can you shed some light on me please cause when i look at rear light harnesses it says its for the year 68-72. Thats got me confused and by the way what is a valence?

A valance is the metal part below the bumper which completes the look of the car. It is body color. The valances used on the 70 and the 71-72 bumpers are different in shape due to the design of the bumper. FIG has described correct situation if you want to go forward with using the different bumper. Mounting brackets (99% sure)and locations are the same for 70-72.

BTW, 70 and 71-72 FRONT bumpers also differ as does the filler panel used. One would need to change out the wiring harness for correct (read as functional)lighting. Other hassles become aparrent when using 71-72 front end sheet metal on 70's. It can be done though.
