I looked at the pics and the arms don't look very heavy duty compared to others I have seen. Of course, they are much cheaper.

Go to my website and go to the suspension page. I have the Fatman lowers on my Elky, although I'm not running them with coil-overs. I had a few issues with the ball joint fitment, but if you're not doing a b-body spindle swap at the same time, it shouldn't be a problem. Email/pm me if you want more details.

ER, none of your enlargment pics work on your webpage. What are spartan upper arms? where did you get them and how much. I did a search on yahoo for those and came up empty. Also are you using a different spindle? or stock... let me know, thanks!

Not sure what the spartans are but they don't look too different than these:

Not going to get much cheaper than that!

well I might pick up a set, and just hope that my ride height is low enough to where these don't hit the frame when the front end lifts since they don't curve down like stock arms.

make that Just picked up set, a hundred bucks is nothing even if they don't work. My front suspension is gonna be OFF THE HOOK as they say :)

Maybe I'll use the other shock mounts on the afco lowers to run a limiter to the frame. Now debating some QA1 coilovers, anybody have experience with those? I'll post a new thread about them for feedback.

thanks!

Sorry about the enlargement pictures - I just haven't had time lately to keep that page up to date. The Spartan arms are not from circle track suppliers, but from here: http://www.westcentralauto.com/chevelle.htm

And yes, I'm using B-body spindles, so I didn't use Fatman upper arms.

Dennis68 uses those speedway arms. Find a post of his in the suspension forum (you wont have to look long!) and click on his sig. You can bet he will be the last guy running B-body spindles as he doesn't have much good to say about them, although he might be running another type of tall spindle. I am not sure if these will work on stock spindles or not. BTW I believe that you will have to get a different kind of upper ball joint to run those arms.

Here's a new kind of lower I found (new to me) http://www.randys-racemart.com/umplocoarm68.html

I want to use those lowers, and find out if I can get a bearing-ended, threaded body shock coilover setup going like they use on IMCA cars to work by installing a shock mount on the frame or ?, since they already have that kind of mount on the lower arm.

wow, those arms are kinda slick, look a lot lighter than the afco arms, if I got those I could just cut the spring stud off and weld in a cup, and cut a hole to mount shocks with the T bar. The afco arms are nicely engineered but they seem really heavy, have not had a chance to weigh them yet.

I just got those speedway arms, they are LIGHT as a feather, but they are JUUUUUNNKKKKKKKK very poorly made, the cross shafts are just in the steel, even with tons of lube it seems like they will marr. Oh and they dont even fit, the bolt centers on the cross shaft are too wide. DO NOT buy these arms, and if you want to buy them, I'll sell you mine :)

What is so different about the post 68-72 frames that most all of this suspension stuff wont fit on my 67?

I don't know what happened there Jaber. Mine bolt right up and I love them. Cheap and effective. The steel on steel pivot is nothing new, Chevy did that for many decades prior to using rubber in about 1965.

BTW, mine have over 15K daily driven street miles in all weather conditions (with no inner fenders to protect them) and the right side occasionally makes noise but no detectable wear.

damn, those speed way arms are cheap. REALLY cheap. Maybe thoughts for when I get to do my "budget" suspension build. Especially if dennis has first hand experience with them and likes them.
