Currently changing over my 68 bench seat car to a bucket seat car. I purchased a set of original bucket seat straps at a flea market with part of the floor piece still attached to it and was able to recover the entire four straps. The front two straps are identical (there is no left or right), however, The long straps are different from each other. If one was to call the portion of the strap with the "least" metal where the stud portrudes at the back of the strap the offset which strap mounts where? (Does the offset go the inside or the outside of the car for welding?)

Someone out there must have changed a bench seat car over to a bucket seat car using factory straps. I sure could use some help?

It may be me, but maybe no one knows what you mean by straps.. Do you mean the brackets that are welded to the floor that you bolt the seat tracks to??

The bucket seat straps are pieces of metal with threaded studs on them that are welded to the floor pans so if you are evey in an accident the seat will not pull through the floor. There are tworequired per seat. One little stubby one that is welded to the front exterior of the floor pan, and one long one that is welded front to back for the interior of the seat.

The brackets I am thinking of go on the inside. Your question is hard to understand. You might want to post a picture or reprhase.

No I can't help you tell left from right.. but in my way of thinking,,, I would take my bucket seat. ( making sure the seat trackes are either alll the way back or front) and loosly mount the seat using the out side front and rear bolts.. Then rock the seat out ward and trial fit the straps/brackets to the floor and seat track.
Which ever one fits better on that seat..Scrib it's out line around the bracket onto the floor remove the seat and BUZZ the Strap/Bracket to the floor Do the same on the other side...
