My power top on my 72 struggles to get up on one side. What is causing this and how to fix it??

It sounds like there may be air in the lines, or low on fluid.
I did a search, and came up empty. I know there are threads on this subject out there...somewhere.

Here's what you want to do.....

On the right side of the pump ( looking inward from the trunk) there's a nylon plug. The right is the tank, and the left is the pump side.
First lay a bunch of rags down in case of a spill.
Remove the plug.
Take about a 2.5 foot length of 5/16 rubber gas line (this worked for me) and twist it into the opening.
Take a quart of ATF and stick the other end of the hose in.
Start the car (power tops suck alot of ampherage) and run the top up and down. You can first go partially up, partially down. Then go all the way up, and all the way down.
This should do the trick IF air or low fluid is the problem.
The pump will only take what it needs.
I hope this helps.

Will any standard hydraulic fluid suffice??? I just recently bought this convertible after owning a hardtop 13 years ago. Learning about all the subtle differences.

Thanks.
