What would be better on the floor under the capet POR-15 or Corroless from Eastwood? The floor is sound it just has some surfaced rust under the carpet.

thanks
Jim

Which is better....is sometimes which one do you have on hand. They are similiarly priced.

I use POR-15 on frame, and suspension parts so I always have some. I hit the floors of my 70 Malibu before laying sound deadener this fall. I made sure to clean the surface scale off in a few places. Wipe up any potential greasy spot, but didn't mind the odd-fisheye.

Looks good, & the metal is protected if the new carpet gets wet. Thats the main thing.

I don`t have either one laying around, they`re so both highly bragged about in there ads I was just looking for some different opinions.

Thanks
Jim

DP 90 always works well.

Micky. What is DP90? first I've heard that one, excuse me if I've missed the boat, I've used both por15, and other than excessive prep on bare (clean) metal and the need to always top caot it if it will be exposed to uv I like it, I've also used coreless (sp?) and liked it as well. 6 one 1/2 doz the other.

DP-90 is PPG's expoy primer and black in color. But becareful when buying this stuff as PPG doesnt make DP-90 anymore, they replaced it with DP-90 LF. They replaced the regular DP because of VOC regulations that were placed on the paint makers. The new DP-90 LF is alot less quality product and doesnt adhere and protect the metal as well as the regular DP. I wouldnt coat any bare metal with DP-90 LF, I've had to many bad experiences with DP-90 LF and dont recommend this product to be used to coat bare metal.

Never ever had a problem with the lead free DP 90. The stuff is so tuff that paint stripper doesnt even take it off. I did have problems with self etch primer and dont recomend it unless going over alum or galvanized metal. When using th DP90 you should etch the metal first. Just my past experience..

I wouldnt have recommended it if it was junk. If done right you wont have a problem.
