I really hope you guys can help, I already posted this on fullsizechevy.com and got no repsonse. I replaced the rear brake pads and rotors and when test driving I had a loud tapping noise. Turns out the e-brake pads are hitting the rotor, I tried adjusting the ebrake and it's still making contact even if I adjust it all the way in (although it's not as bad). What am I doing wrong? Does the e-brake cable need adjusting? I didn't see anywhere to adjust the cable. For now I've got it somewhat quiet but it's definitly not right and don't want to screw up a brand new $130 dollor rotor. Please help. Thanks!

It may not be the brake adjustment thats causing the noise.
What happens is,on that E-brake system as you pull the rear rotor off the hub,the ridge built up on the inside of the rotor will pull the internal E-brake shoe out of the retaining clip. The fix is to remove the rotor reposition the internal shoe and bend the clip to hold it tighter.
If the linings on the internal shoe are damaged just replace them. They are available at the napa carquest autozone type parts stores and come with new hardware in the box.
As far as an adjustment, there is a mechanical cylinder inside the rotor that has a toothed wheel that can be turned to tighten or loosen the E-brake.

Thanks for the reply. I did check to make sure the linings are staying in place against the backing plate and they seem very tight, plus the old rotor slid off easily. I talked to my mechanic today and he said if the adjustment is too loose they can get knocked around by the rotor so I'll try adjusting them a little tighter otherwise the new rotor has to be warped. My mechanic said that it's rare but they do see it once in a while. Once I had a flex plate that was warped so bad I couldn't get the trans to bolt up to my engine (in the chevelle of course). It was a wake up call for me because I assumed part manufacturers would check their products a little more thoroughly  , but I guess they don't. Thanks again.

I have an '02 Avalanche as well, haven't had to do the rear brakes yet, but just wanted to let you know there's a really good site at http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php
Lots of good info.
