I went over the pot life on some K-38 I was putting on new doors. What should I do now? The paint was getting grainy looking on the metal, and it was clogging my gun. I cleaned my gun and was thinking of dry blocking it smooth with 180 tomorrow. Does this sound OK? I really don't want to go all the way to bare metal, can I just dry block it smooth and reshoot? I am using a 1.4mm tip in my gun will this work for this thick arse K-38?

Should be ok to block it smooth and reshoot, not positive though with the k-38.1.4 tip should be ok to shoot primer,I'm sure they specify a bigger tip but that's what I use. Mike

You will be just fine blocking with 180 and reshooting. It happens to me all the time when using k36 in the summer and the high build ratio, pot life is 30 mins.

A 1.4 is good when using k36 sprayed in either one of the ratios, but its a tad small when spraying k38. I use a 1.7 tip on my SATA LM2000 as k38 is a thick primer.

Althou its NOT listed in the tech sheet, you can add a SMALL amount of DT reducer. Id mix it 4:1:1/2, that will thin it out some helping it go throu that 1.4

Once again thanks sevty, I will try the reduction I have a gallon of DX870 I ordered a 1.6mm tip for the gun adn will switch for K-38 when it get's here.
