I am going to remove the body of my 66 to go ahead and get started doin the floor and trunk replacement. I have already pulled the motor and trans. The front clip will come off too before I attempt to lift off the body. Do you guys have any hints on doin the body lift off? I will prolly take off the doors to make it a little lighter and all of the interior too. I dont really have a crane so Im gonna prolly use a bunch of friends, and get someone to push the frame out once we get it up. I know the body is heavy, but I figure with enough friends I can do it. I just need some insight. Thanks for the help.

What did you pull the engine out with??
Use the engine lift and long chain, hook the chain to each of the bottom firewall body bolt holes, lift it up part way and block it, move the engine hoist to the rear and hook the chain to the inside trunk braces each side of the gas pipe and lift. Brace it and move back to the front and lift again higher and brace it up. Go back and lift the rear again and brace it up. You should be able to roll the frame out the front. If you have enough room on the side you can slide the frame out sideways and not have to lift the body so high.
Good Luck.

I live in AL, we used an oak tree, lol. A chain, a come-a-long, and a nylon strap.

DO THE PAN AND FLOOR WORK FIRST. LEAVE THE CAR STATIONARY ON THE FRAME. THIS WAY YOU CAN AVOID FLEX IN THE BODY. IF YOU TAKE THE FRAME OFF THEN START CUTTING AWAY THE FLOOR IT MAYFLEX. THEN WHEN YOU PUT THE BODY BACK ON YOU CAN AVAIOD SAGGING OF A CORNER OR CORNERS OF YOUR RIDE. JUST A TIP.

J S,
I also live in Wetumpka. I have my '69 body off the frame right now. You are welcome to come by and check it out. I can probably answer any questions you have.

I've done it 2 ways. The first involed 2 trees, a cable between them, a tractor, a pulley, a long 2x6 and a chain. The second is, I made up some brackets that bolted to the body where the lower door hinges go, used a bumper jack on each side, a floor jack in the back with a jackstand on both sides of the rear for support in case it fell and lifted it right up.

Check it out. I will have new pics to post soon. The chassis is done with the big block sitting between the frame rails.
