I have some rust holes in the area of a front door-below the hinges and around the lower corner of the door. I sandblasted those areas knowing that it would open them up. What would tiger hair do over time if put in those areas. I have had great success with it on other projects & know that it would be proper , but would it hold very long????? Thanks

No! If it is subject to any moisture, and filled area is not very thick it will fail. Karl

If you want it done right, weld in a patch. Using filler is only temporary at best.

there is even a better method i had the same problem in my doors same exact spot there is a guy by me that restores parts like that with a process that actually adds metal to the area i believe its a zinc alloy of some sort i had both my door done for about 300 bucks the holes in one door were pretty big and it came out great i cant remember the name of the process maybe someone else on the site can help us out with that but its better than a patch with fiberglass or metal if you can find someone near you that does it

Whoa!!!
Don't get in a hurry. I have the same problem with my Impala. The Malibu was starting to rust there also. Before you attempt to repair that area please determine why it rusted in the first place. In the case of my Malibu it was due to a rust hole in the lower left corner of the windshield under the trim letting water run down into that area. That, along with a bunch of leaves and junk built up in the rocker between the fender and door pluging any drainage, water could just sit there and cause rust. The problem with the Impala was similar. On the Impala I cut out a patch from a 68 at pick-a-part. Don't know if it will work yet or not....

Obviously just patching the holes under the door is only addressing the symptom and not the cause of the problem. Best of luck! I'm still welding whenever I can find the time. I've seen that metal add process demonstrated and it seems to work great. I'm just too cheap!
