I will take one of each......and a glazed donut, to go. But seriously, can you even give a hint as to how much that combo set you back in the pocketbook? I like the too much power for any gearhead look.

That is awesome! The engine looks great. I love the wheel and tire combo as well. However, I believe the best feature is the seat cover (wink wink) ;) ;) .

I hate you!!!

Oh yeah, nicely done. That little old small block should make more than a few of the big block guys scratch thier head and wonder what the hell just happened as they limp down the return road. :D
No offense to the girl, she is very nice to look at but I'd like to see more of the exhaust routing and air to air ducting up front.

Thanks for the compliments! The setup was very cheap. You can't even build a nice N/A small block for what this cost! The motor is insanely fast and will probably put about 700-750 hp to the wheels on pumpgas.

The girl in the pic is my wife. I love her more then the car. She likes the car as much as I do and loves to drive it as well. I wanted her to be in some pics because I have always wanted my girl to be in a nice car pic.

The setup is easy to tune and the wheel and tire combo fits nice. Before paint I took 1/4" off the wheel lips in back. I have no rubbing.

Oh yeah...the Chevelle ain't bad either! ;)

All kiddin' aside...engine looks great, but would like to see a little more of the turbo set up a little closer.

Very "stealthy" lookin' 'velle. Great job.

great looking stance(?) i wanted to go twin turbo, but wasnt sure about routing the exhaust down around steering col. and clutch x shaft, what the heat would do where it came close to the floorboard, so i went with a procharger again-might do a turbo this winter, eliminate the clutch
do youhave any close up pics of the drivers side ex., and is heat a prob

Nothing like a beautiful woman who's also a good sport.

What kinda mpg do you get with that?

What compression do you have?

Sick.

My compression is 8.1:1 and I do not have a speedometer hooked up yet. I have to work with hipster to get the appripriate tailshaft housing. Mine is speedometer delete. It should get whatever a stock LS1 engine gets. 20-25 something when cruising or so.

Ditto the previous comments. How about some wheel/tire info, please include backspace. Thanks.

I'd think your lower compression would hurt your gas milage at least a little bit.

Can you give us some more specs? What kind of turbos? What is done to the motor? How much does a "nice N/A small block" cost? I need some more input before I invest in the big block I've been looking at.

Thanks

I have a 347" ls1 with Turbonetics 60-1 hi-fi turbos, Racegates, and a 50 mm BOV. I run a Spearco intercooler and 321 stainless headers. It is worth the work. You can't beat it! I am glad I did it.

My last N/A small block was about $20,000. That was a 427" tall deck with dart 18 degree heads, and Accel Gen 7 fuel injection. You can realistically build a nice small block for about 12-15 grand without a few things or injection, but why would you not want injection!

Good luck with your discision!

The car normally goes against the grain of what I would do with a Chevelle, but I have to say you did a TOTALLY AWESOME JOB!!! THAT IS AN AWESOME CAR and the turbos look fantastic.... if they work as well as they look you've got it made,... looks to me by the pictures you already got it made and im not talking about the car....

GOOD LUCK WITH THEM

Thanks for the compliments on my car and wife! I hope to get to the track in a couple weeks. Should see 9's @ about 140 mph on pumpgas. I can leave rubber on the ground at over 100 mph on the street in high gear with these 315 drag radials! It is nuts, I cannot even begin to explain how fast the car is!!!!

Good luck hooking up. Might have yourself a dyno queen there. kidding, or am I? ;)

I could probably convense the girlfirend to pose, but the "bending over the hood" woudl require some degree of intoxication. Well played.

By the way, why do you have two radiators? :D ;)

I got to the strip! I went 10.50@ 136.34. I was hopeing to go faster, but the track was way too busy to make any passes. This was on 315/35/17 drag radials and Citgo 93 octane @ 15 psi. I wish I had more time to dial in the suspension. I only hooked a 1.80 second 60'. Last year I did a 1.60 60', but the car did not have turbos. A few more launches and I would have pulled off a high 9 second run. Oh well, always next year!

Major problem though! Found out I have too much power for my 9" converter. That's why I am blowing through it soo bad. I called Hipster and it sounds like they will take care of me.

Good to know I have more in it. I should have no problem hitting a good 145 mph on pump gas without meth or nitrous or anything.

All in all, not bad for a pumpgas car with a raceweight of about 3,840 lbs.

That is a great time. And you will be going even faster. Good job. I'll bet that car looked sweet rolling down the 1/4....

Wow you have definately inspired my 71 rebuild I have always wanted a turbo car just waiting for the funds and finishing the body. Where are the headers/down pipe from? Did you build them? Sweet ride.

What did you do to get the ls1 to fit? Motor mounts and oil pan? Where did you get them from?

Thanks,
Mike

Not bad initial runs, but don't expect much more out of those tires. Low profile tires WILL NOT hook even if a drag radial. Your best bet is to buy a second set of rims, specifically 15" and use a 275/60, 295/65, or a 325/50 M/T radial. You need more sidewall to improve your 60' times.

Great car man saw it on LS1tech as well. You did quite a job fabricating those headers they look beautiful. I imagine the materials for the headers weren't bad but the time and fabrication involved would have to make them worth a grand or more. I am planning on putting an LS1 in my 67 next summer and maybe with a little luck and some $$ i will be able to do a similar turbo set up. Great car man hope to see it at some shows some time.

Thanks guys!

The tires have hooked a 1.60 last year. I did'nt have any time to practice launches with the new motor this year. The tires are very hard to launch with. They will either hook, or go up in smoke. It is a very fine line.

I built the headers myself The materials were about $1200. They are 321 stainless. It was harder then you think to make a header to fit in a LS1/Chevelle. The drivers side was very difficult to fit around the steering shaft.

Hey Scott, what's did the car weigh at the track? I doing badsically hte same thing to my 67. Just picked up the 01 LS1 motor and trans yesterday and will be running a single turbo. Had a friend with same setup in a TA and like you said, pretty much roast the tires at any speed. I can't wait :p

Race weight is 3,820 lbs. The wheels in the rear are 17x11 with a 6.125 backspace. The fronts are 17x8 with 4" backspace. The car has stock springs. I trimmed the fronts.
