The monroe sensa-tracs on my 71 el camino with stock height springs in the front and taller, cargo springs in the back need to be replaced. The final blow was dealt to these shocks when I bottomed-out hard going too fast on one of San Francisco's typicall, steep, flat, then steep again hill intersections, giving the shocks insufficient time to react.

When I was getting exhaust done, the guy noticed how effortless it is to compress my rear shocks, and he recommended coil-over shocks. Here is the addr. to a pic of my rear shock:

What kind of shock do you guys recommend without breaking the bank, and what variables do I need to resolve to buy the right one for my application?
The front shocks may not be broke, but since installing taller 245/60R15s in the front, the tires scrape in the front on hard cornering, so should I get new front shocks as well?

I have Koni's on the Chevelle and Bilstein's on the Corvette. Both perform very well with a good ride and excellent dampening in high speed cornering or on rough roads.
