Whats the story on the 4 speed T-10's? Are they better? Maybe someone can throw down some quick basics. Ive been muncie shopping... I know to stay away from Sagniaw's... but some dude has a T-10 with a new clutch and some other parts for $500, and also found a muncie for $500....

What's wrong with saginaws? I have a chance to get one. Are they weak? Thankyou.

Yep, real deep first gear, they were made for the low hp motors. There are lots of them out there and can be had cheap. Take it easy and it will be okay.

There are T10s and then there is the Super T10.

Early all aluminum T10s came in early vettes and chevies, 16 spline output. That was followed by a 27 spline versions. These had cast iron main cases and aluminum extension housings.

Then came the Super T10, over the counter only, iron 904 case, fine spline input, 32 spline output, 4 different first gear ratios, still sold today as the Richmond 4 speed.

GM started to use the 903 aluminum main case version of the Super T10 in late 74 after they stopped uncie production. Not nearly as nice as the 904 trans.

Muncies are my thing, good solid trans that shifts very easy and can take a fair amout of abuse.
