Hey everyone, I was wondering, whats the average cost for a 70 chevelle needing a quarter/patch panel, sanding, painting, etc.? I am getting ready to call a restoration shop, I would do it myself, but our shed isn't up yet and also I want it to look nice. Thanks for any replies.

Well I dont know that much about body work, but Ill tell you the estimates I got.The one Im going with is from one of the 3 best paint body men in my area. The price is for a 69 and he is installing both quaters, driver side fender, hood, cowl, rear tail panel, and the trunk floor. He said around 1800.00 and me suppy the parts. He was going to supply the paint until I told him I wanted to go with a two stage dupont chromabase.I have seen his work and it is great. The other estimates I got was 2000.00 and 1200.00,And they arent in the top 3 for this area.I know if I searched around I could find someone to put a 10,000.00 paint job on it for me but thats not what Im looking for.I have seen my paint guys work and to tell you the truth they look as good as most 10,000.00 paint jobs Ive seen.I know Ill probablly get cursed out for saying that but its the truth.

The high estimate I got was 9K. The low was $3500. I spent around $4500. Had basicly the same work you describe plus the fitting of a glass hood.

I agree 100% graemlins/thumbsup.gif There was a post here a while back about a $10,000 paint job and taking 2 years to complete or something like that. I thought the guy was nuts ! If I paid someone $3000 for a paint job, I would expect near perfection, and like you said, I will probably get cursed out for this. That's why I am doing it all myself with the understanding from the beginning that it will not be near perfect and will have many imperfections that all the anal folks can hunt for and find while looking closely at the car. I believe my car will look great to the average eye and I will put the $3,000 to $10,000 into other things. Like Martinsr said once, "Shoot some paint on it and have fun !! "
