Can this be done, it did not cover this on the tech sheet?

If it doesn't say you can on the tech sheet I wouldn't.Why take that risk ? You would be kicking yourself later if a problem showed up after you paint. I know you can apply filler over epoxy primer.I used K-36 when I blocked my car and did use some 2 part glazing putty in a few spots though but that goes on very thin.

I wanted to know that same thing and had my local paint supplier call PPG. They said no. They have a primmer you can use under filler but not k 36.

No you CANT DO THIS.
The ONLYprimer that can have filler applied over it an epoxy primer.
Just in case you havent bought it yet but K36 sucks!! Step up to K38 or NCP272 primers, they are a higher building primers and DONT have shrinkage problems later down the road like K36 does.

OK, if I use DPLF epoxy primer then K38 surfacer, what sealer and type of base and clear do you suggest.

Well first off you DONT need a sealer over sanded and cured urethane primer. Any paint store, rep, whoever that says a sealer is a MUST is a moron!!!
Most are just watered down surfacers for easier spraying.

Sealer is NOT a must, some use it some dont, but just know its NOT a must. Unless you plan on using black and ONLY black, then a sealer is needed.

If I was to use a PPG sealer I would go with V-seal DAS3025. Base go with DBC. For clear I like 2055.

Traded my DX1791 for DPLF and my K36 for K38 today. Have just about completed body work on bare metal. Feel like I'll be more satisfied with the epoxy primer regardless body filler issues that have become irrelivent.

Thanks

The only time Ive EVER seen or heard of epoxy/filler failure issues is when the filler was applied to soon.

I know the tech sheet for DPLF says what 30mins with 401 and 1hr with 402
DONT follow the tech sheet on that!!! It WILL peel off later. I wait 3 days or more

I've done most of my filler work on bare metal already, so any filler over the epoxy will be for slight imperfections that I find and will be minor. I will wait at least 3 days.

Thanks
