This may not be the correct area for this question but I'm not sure where else to post it.
My question is how do I get the doors to open? I can handle the body work end of it but I'm not sure how to get the latches to open. I have been told to use some of the remote door opening kits available but I have also had people tell me they won't pull the heavy springs in my door latches ( car is a 1970 Chevelle by the way)and I would need to weld in new mounting plates for newer latches, Also I have heard of using GM starter solenoids but I can't see how they would mount or attach to the latch.
Any help or reference matl. would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

You see the thing is ,you are suppose to use your thumb to push in the button, which pushes the little lever inside the door, then the door opens http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif Shaved handles are for '32 three window Fords, not a chevelle.

I disagree. Do what you want with your car!

The street rod market is full of companies that market door opening kits. Some of these are specifically designed to handle heavy doors/springs as found on 40's & 50's lead sleds. Pick up a copy of Street Rodder magazine (or similar) and find ads galore!

Thanks for all the suggstions.
If you wouldn't mind bcaron I would appreciate the pix and explanation. my e-mail is ch4980@msn.com. I have heard of VPA's kits but was told I would have to alter my latch springs to make them work right.By the way my Chevelle is a basic Malibu and not a SS or anything extremly rare. I just like the smooth look of no door handles, to each his own I suppose.
Thanks again for the help
