Would this be a good package to put on a 355. I want to build a motor I found which is a 350 4 bolt with steel crank. I was hoping for horsepower in the neighborhood of 350-375. Can it be done with this setup on pistons that will run pump gas through headers, don't know which cam I would use though. Thanks for the input.

All depends on what pistons are in your 355 already.
The Vortec heads have a combustion chamber size of around 62cc so you'll be looking for at least flat top or possibly dish pistons for a pump gas friendly compression ratio.
If the pistons are stock replacements, you should be fine.
Couple that linked head/intake kit with a small (60101 or 60102) Voodoo hyd flat tappet cam and you should easily reach your HP goal.
Good luck with the project. I'm a big Vortec head fan, BTW.

It would work out just fine for that power level. As far as piston goes, as Bill said, a stock type dish piston would be real nice. Something with about a -12cc dish or larger with those vortec heads and proper quench would be nice. Flat tops would provide more compression than necessary to run a mild cam that meats your goals and the additional compression could also cause detonation probs. Use a 650-750 carb(like an edelbrock 750) and those voodoo cams are nice. The voodoo 262 sounds to be a good. The next one smaller could work(the 60101) but I wouldnt want too much more than 9:1 compression. If your pistons spec around -12 cc, you will probably end up with somewhere around 9.8:1 comp. If thats the case, Id consider the voodoo 268 camshaft as well. That cam would surely be closer to the high end of your goals power wise and still streetable. Whatever you do, check to be totally sure the springs that come on the heads are able to keep up with your cam choice.

Thank you bill and greg, I really appreciate it.

Just thought I should include. Its not that flat tops wont work. If you had flat top pistons in there, the comp would be 10:1 or better. Thats enough comp that youd want a larger cam....the voodoo 268 minimum. If you end up with the compression being in the 9.5:1 or less range, the voodoo 262 looks like a good bet and even a tad smaller of a cam could still make 350 horses. With your modest goals of 350-375 horsepower, you have good heads and a good intake, and will not need a ton of cam or compression so thats why I was fixated on dish pistons. With the small chambers in those heads, dishes will make it easier to keep the compression at moderate levels, and that will make it easy to run with a mild cam and still meet your goals.

1971,
I was just offering feedback because I built a motor for my '67 this past spring using some of the components you were interested in.
I took a healthy totally stock 350 short block, complete with it's original dish pistons, added a set of reworked (spring upgrade and screw-in rocker studs) Vortec heads, an RPM intake, 1 5/8" headers, a basic HEI, 2 1/2" dual exhaust, the Voodoo 60101 cam, and a Holley 670 Avenger.
This motor easily puts out 350 HP and pulls in the midrange like crazy!
